 click-and-be-owned
27. March 2008 21:03

Just came across a really scary story on schneier's blog: Apparently the FBI is planting fake links in online message boards claiming to lead to child porn. Once you click on them, your IP address is recorded and your house might be searched and you might be arrested. Here are more details on one case on ars technica.

So watch out next time someone is sending you a funny link on IM or in emails. It's hard to imagine how anyone with a half way decent knowledge of internet technology and IT security can come up with such an idea? There are so many ways of how you could end up on the list without ever doing anything related to visiting such a message board, and using this as the only basis of a federal investigation is just unbelievable.

 Safari: open in new tab
24. March 2008 13:04

Been waiting for this feature ever since switching back to safari (Firefox was just behaving to strange in longterm use). Enter this into your command line and safari 3.1 will open anything that has a target=_blank in a new tab instead of a window.

defaults write com.apple.Safari TargetedClicksCreateTabs -bool true

Thanx to fscklog for another useful hint!

 Freeze flash mob munich
5. March 2008 22:17

In case you haven't heard the term flash mob before here's the citation from wikipedia:

A flash mob is a large group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, perform an unusual action for a brief period of time, then quickly disperse.

Now someone came up with the concept of a freeze flash mob, meaning everyone gathers in a public place and just stops moving for a couple of minutes. You can see how much fun it is to see people wandering around totally clueless of what's going on in this video taken in London:

I got an invite on facebook to join a group for an upcoming event in munich. If I'm in town I am definitely going to be there! Here are the raw details from the group page, in case you're not on facebook:

Friday, May 9 2008 exactly 14:15:00 to 14:20:00
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Location: Marienplatz

 Rasender Stillstand
1. March 2008 20:50
